The Dems Are Sooooo Last Decade...

For a while now, I've seen chatroom Democrats and faux liberals express a desire to go back to the 90s when Bill Clinton was President. To them, it was an ideal time when the economy was humming (which had nothing to do with Clinton), we didn't wage war (against those who want to kill us), and we had a handle on important issues (like where to get a hair style like Rachel from "Friends").

This past week, the Democrats got their wish. Two big issues, abortion and gun rights, that were white hot in the 90s came back into view. And they should want nothing to do with either one.

The first issue, abortion, came up in regards to a Supreme Court ruling that upheld bans on partial birth abortion. Regardless of how you feel about abortion, PBAs are absolutely brutal procedures where a nearly-formed child is killed in the womb and then removed. If it's done to save the life of the mother, I can understand that, but like with most abortions, it's often done by choice. That's unbelievable to me.

And abortion rights activists are trying to protect that to protect their "right" to an abortion? Please. I'm not a woman and I'll never bear a child, but I don't have to to see just how utterly barbaric partial birth abortions are. Even abortion rights activists should be leery of even talking about it in the contexts of the overall abortion debate.

Then there's gun control. In the light of the Virginia Tech shootings, the faux left has reintroduced the idea that the way to prevent future school shootings is with...more gun laws. Yeah, the ones on the books right now have really done the trick. Let's not forget Virginia Tech was a "gun free zone" and the shooter still managed to get guns on campus and kill 32 people. And another gun law is going to stop that from happening?

Why should Democrats stay away from these two issues? Because most people are burnt out on these issues. We went through these same issues in the 90s when Democrats and faux liberals beat the drum more than Neil Peart playing a solo, and we're tired. We've already thrown up our hands and said, "Enough already!" because we know neither one is going to be resolved anytime soon. Meanwhile, there are real issues that need to be addressed, like illegal immigration and the war on terrorism. These are issues we can and must address and should as soon as possible.

And Democrats want to bring up abortion and gun control?

It’s funny (in a pathetic kind of way) how much of your life you base on Internet chatrooms. Do you think the reason you have trouble interacting with real people in person is because you’re a fat disgusting pig?

There’s a big world out here. Quit whining, get off your fat ass and go experience real life.

Funny you should mention that, One. When you were sitting at your place typing up this lame response to my blog post...I was at church. You know, where people of different faiths meet?

Hope the Podium was fun this morning, One, because I guarantee church was fun for me. :-)

It's so amusing to watch the Left attack people who seem to have a firmer grasp of reality than they do.

Abortion -- NEVER been a Constitutional right, unless you count the mental gymnastics of activists jurist who believe they know more about "social change" (which isn't in their purview at all) than the States, who initially engaged this issue only top have the rug ripped out from underneath them by the federal government. So much for the Tenth Amendment's enumerated rights guarnateeing States the right to make laws for their citizens without federal interference.

Guns -- As Mr. Lindman astutely pointed out, those gun laws on V-Tech's campus did a bang-up job. The same sort of job gun laws in DC have been doing for years. Ah, but we have the DC Circuit Court now stating that 2nd Amendment rights apply to the individual in DC now, reinstating the right the citizens once had. In short, the only people gun laws affect are the law-abiding ones. They don't faze criminals. They don't faze the mentally-disturbed. The solution to the "gun problem" in America isn't to take them away (as the idiot at the WaPo today suggested), but to have more law-abiding citizens armed.

Mr. Anonymous might want to try venturing out of his mommy's basement once in a while. The Kossacks will still be waiting for him when he returns, and like him, they still will be nothing more than rebels without a clue.

Too bad you sick pricks didn't outlaw late term abortions, just an extremely rare procedure that protected the health of the mother. Now in those already traumatic events when a late term abortion is needed, the fetus must be ripped apart and pulled out in pieces. Hooray for your side!

Apparently they don't discuss unintended consequences in fat Tommy's Internet chatrooms.

Yes we do, One. You're just too busy grousing about me getting the attention and pointing out how pseudointellectual you are to notice. Either that, or your thinking up some lame fat joke to hide the fact that you're not nearly the intellect you think you are.

Let's see...partial birth abortions are rare...and most of them are done for reasons OTHER than the life of the mother. That's not from some right wing anti-abortion group. That's from the abortion doctors themselves.

Of course, absent from your commentary is the intended consequence of every abortion: the loss of a human life. Then, there are the unintended consequences of many abortions: depression, guilt, infections, the death of the mother due to botched procedures.

Don't you feel so good that you're defending a mythical right to abortion and not giving a damn what it does to women, physically or psychologically?

And your side says the pro lifers are the monsters?

"You're just too busy grousing about me getting the attention"

So you spend all your time in Internet chatrooms so you can be the center of attention. You're an even bigger (and this time I actually don't me fatter) loser than I thought.

Depriving a woman of one of the safest ways of her having a late term abortion does not stem from your falsely-claimed regard for the woman's well-being.

When your side stops fighting against realistic alternatives to unintended pregnancies and your concern for life isn’t confined to being pre-vaginal then people may begin to overlook your century's long subjugation of women and begin to believe you’ve actually changed.

Nope. But you do, One. And when I come in, people actually ENJOY my company. When you come in, you're greeted with indifference and scorn.

Jealousy is such an ugly emotion, isn't it?

Women have DIED from all forms of abortion, including PBAs. And you're still overlooking the fact that the vast majority of abortions, including partial birth abortions, are ELECTIVE. And it's not even close. But you're defending a mythical right while ignoring the obvious physical and psychological impacts.

And of course, you don't dare admit abortion kills a human life.

Here's an alternative to abortion, and it's perfectly safe.

Don't have sex.

And unlike abortions, it's 100% effective. But that goes against your side, which isn't really pro choice. It's purely pro-abortion. Nothing more, nothing less.

But only one of us has the intellectual honesty to state that, and it's not you, One.

You're 35, One? I could have sworn you were much older and, thus, much more pathetic than I could ever be. :-)
